Math
We are focusing on regrouping when we add in 2nd grade and number bonds that make 10’s in 1st grade. For example a number bond that makes 10 is 2 and 8.
Reading
This week we learned about two reading strategies that we use our whole lifetime as readers.
Eagle Eye-When we get stuck with a word the “Eagle Eye” looks at the picture to help us understand what the unknown word may be.
Tryin’ Lion-Tryin’ Lion tries a word that makes sense when we get stuck on a word or they reread the words to try to make sense of the unknown word.
Writing
This week we focused on how details in our pictures can really help us add more details to our writing. We talked about how good writing has a setting, characters and a main idea. This lesson is not only taught in 1st and 2nd grade but again in 3rd grade. We are just in the beginning stages of understanding the important parts of a story.
